Donor Cows
Rooted in performance, focused on maternal
Our first Hereford dams were of the Line 1 descent and purchased from the Miles City Range Station in 1947. For over 80 years we have maintained this closed line of breeding, implementing generations of closely monitored selection for performance and maternal based traits. We don’t overlook the value of a cow that calves with ease, breeds up in the first cycle and raises a healthy calf year after year. Which is why mothering instinct and fertility are at the forefront of our breeding program. We expect our Hereford dams to breed back in 45 days and we refuse to roll an open cow into another breeding season. And while we’re focused on maternal, we certainly don’t overlook the value of performance which is why we expect our cows to consistently raise a calf with a weaning ratio at or above 95 in our herd. Our herd consistently ranks in the top 20% of the breed for Milk, MG, Teat and Udder quality, and most cows rank above breed average for traits that ensure profitability such as longevity, performance and carcass. While some of our donor cows excel in value added traits more than others, the common thread we consistently try to weave through our herd is udder quality and fertility.

Three generations of donor cows are stacked on the bottom side of this pedigree. In our mind, dam 671D had an ideal phenotype. And her dam, 1112Y, was built like a brick house. Both were very feminine cows that carried a lot of rib and capacity. We chose to flush this 671D daughter because we really liked the throwback pedigree of 9126J who brings a ton of consistent performance to the table. 109J has a WWR 107/3 and is marked up how you like ‘em; dark red and short marked, clean fronted and very feminine. Three full sisters are raising calves in our herd and all have performed well.

This broody 942G daughter has loads of eye appeal, depth of rib, and a tremendous udder. Her pedigree is loaded with calving ease on the top and bottom side and her EPDs are stellar, ranking in the top 20% of the breed in 15 traits. This is the only 942G daughter that we have flushed so far. Her first daughter is in production on our ranch and had a WWR 108.

We really like this 776E daughter that melds maternal and performance perfectly. She’s feminine, has a nice udder and excellent pigment. Her dam was a solid 215Z cow that traces back to both 055X and 440P. We’ve bred this cow several different ways and each time she produces calves with performance and eye-appeal. She has an excellent set of EPDs that rank her in the top 20% of the breed in the traits most relevant to our industry, including top 10% for SCF, Marbling, BMI$ and CHB$. Her first daughter is in production and had a WWR 115.

Broody cow with predictable performance and reliable carcass merit. She’s big and square, with a level top, lots of capacity and a very nice udder. We flushed her paternal sister, 1189 this past spring as well. The bottom side of this pedigree brings in two excellent females in 160Y and 606S. Both were proven donors with great udders. We flushed 941G’s daughter this past spring and are excited to see calves hit the ground this winter (2026).

Top-notch udder quality and excellent pigment. She’s moderate, smooth through the shoulders, level topped and has a nice hip. This pedigree is a homerun when it comes to producing easy doing cows with bred-in calving ease and high-quality udders. We’ve flushed this cow twice with good success. Her son out of herd sire 2230K was a standout in our 2025 sale and was purchased by Holden Herefords and EF1 Cattle Co. for $100,000.

We flushed a full sister to this donor who is a maternal sister to our herd sire 105Y. 977G is moderate in frame but carries excellent depth of rib and capacity. She’s coon eyed, dark red, and passes good pigment along to her offspring. Like most of the 7131E daughters, she sits at the top of our herd in terms of performance and passes it along to her calves. Her progeny have also excelled in carcass traits.

Granddam 9119W’s use in our herd elevated the udder quality. This donor out of her is no exception. With a near perfect udder, she is freckle-faced and red to the ground. A moderate cow with a nice level top and good muscle. Good calving ease and an EPD panel stacked with outstanding maternal traits. We have some nice young females rising up through our program out of this cow and she’s produced an array of outstanding herd sires that have gone to other seedstock operations including Holden Herefords, Indian Mound Ranch, Johansen Herefords and Tarrant Herefords.

Big time performance cow with bred-in carcass merit. This donor has a WWR 103/5. She’s a very fertile cow that we’ve flushed 3 times. You’ll find her pedigree behind some nice young females in our herd and powerful sons have sold to Fawcett’s Elm Creek Ranch, Three Hills Ranch and Van Newkirk Herefords. This broody cow passes some frame on to her progeny but adds performance in an equal amount. She and full sister 9192G both have great udders.

A very nice donor that we sold to our friends at Buford Ranches in OK. We really liked her phenotype, and her pedigree offered us a little something outside of the box while also delivering on calving ease, maternal and longevity. We flushed her once and have a few first calf heifers set to calve January 2026. Numerous sons are in production, including 456B, who topped our sale at $120,000 in 2025 and was purchased by Buford Ranches, Churchill Cattle Co. and Colyer Herefords. We’re very excited about what he has to offer our program and excited to see him at work in other operations.

Super powerful cow that breeds performance into progeny just like her mother, 055X. She’s a 10-year-old cow with a good number of young females making an impact in our herd - seven daughters have a 103 WWR. EPDs rank her in the top 25% of the breed in 12 traits. Just like her predecessor, 6162D raises calves that improve your herd and put money in your wallet. Her udder quality rivals that of dam 055X. The daughters out of her sons, 0186H and 1176J, are the kind you hate to sell; moderate, deep ribbed and all have nearly perfect udders.

The “Grand Dam” of them all. This cow passed away last summer (2025) at 15 years old. A prolific producer, she was flushed numerous times throughout her youth before phasing out of production and strictly into donor status at 10 years of age. Her pedigree is scattered throughout our program and can be found in animals across the industry who have made their mark in varying programs. She had one of the best udders we’ve seen, and her performance was unmatched. Mostly a bull producer, we only have a few daughters out of this tremendous cow. 6162D is still in our donor pen and has produced nearly as many top herd sires as her dam.
