Young Herd Sires
Balanced for Profitability
At Cooper Herefords, we believe that a herd bull should produce sons better than himself within a few years, which is why you’ll see a large percentage of our cows bred to young sires. Continually integrating fresh genetics requires a disciplined breeding philosophy to consistently produce high quality cattle that vary little in both phenotype and genotype. Never one to chase extremes, we maintain a balanced approach to trait selection, seeking to retain young herd sires that can “do it all”. Furthermore, the predictability achieved through our linebreeding program ensures these young herd sires will indeed pass “it all” on to the next generation. Calves sired by the young bull battery at Cooper Herefords ensure profitability in every segment of the beef industry. They possess length, bone, muscle and eye-appeal, and are out of solid cows that breed back, possess a natural mothering instinct, and have high quality udders. We expect these young bulls to breed mature cows and to be thrifty and sound when traveling distance. We understand the impact of adding young, new bulls to your herd but you can be confident we’ve done the work to ensure your investment adds value to your program.
